Former to Future

- poem by shawna ray 6/13

From the former to the future
Changing tide is washing up
From the inner to the outer
Purify what was corrupt
From the core into the center
Luring tempting is a lust
From deliverance to disaster
Torrent winds whip up the dust

Sweet surrender in the Spirit
That is kissed upon love's lips
Soft but loud so all can hear it
Calling purpose to exist
Warding off the shameful arrows
Not to fear the bully's fist
With an eye upon the sparrow
Word fulfilling promises

Age of time is now upon us
Echoing the grave's release
We must lift and sound the trumpets
Welcoming and offering
One to stay and walk among us
Joyful celebration feast
In the present, full awareness
Former battle, future peace

Please Don't Preach

He tried to share his life. I went and missed the mark
Been burned a hundred times, He wasn’t hearing much
(He said), you speak their language, there is a tone I sense
All that just seems connected, to one who first rejected
Didn’t understand; Wouldn’t hold my hand
Didn’t show the love I needed back then
Please don’t preach at me
Please don’t preach at me
Love me just where I am
Let me tell you where I’ve been
I will learn to call you friend,
If you don’t preach at me, please
She had her own faith walk, nature with shifting views
I grew to understand what she was working through
Seeking a place of peace; daily discovering
Questioning the things that hypocrites release
You who throw a stone, hey what's with all the judging?
Please don’t preach at me
Please don’t preach at me
Love me just where I am
Let me tell you where I’ve been
I will learn to call you friend,
If you don’t preach at me, please
Each journey is its own. Don’t try to put a notch on your belt
This pain goes far and deep. Respect the time and need for healing
Please don’t preach at me
Please don’t preach at me
Love me just where I am
Let me tell you where I’ve been
I will learn to call you friend,
If you don’t preach at me, please
Let life speak, let love speak, let hope speak to those who are listening
Let life seek, let love seek, let hope seek those who are seeking
Open to see all God’s children connecting
Don’t be condescending if you want to pray for me
I'm a fellow traveler; willing to share this journey
Conversate and contemplate, I’ll learn from you, you learn from me
But please, please, please don’t preach

Dry Dreams

All these dry dreams
In the land of bent bones
Simple is kind to me
But there's a craving t in my soul
Thirsty dry dreams
Longing to lap it up
I don't know what awaits me
All I know is I've got to go
From this silence
Calling in the distance
Waking up I listen
To the song bird sing
I am streaming
But the outlets are dammed up
I don't know what awaits me
All I know is here I've become
A heap of dry dreams
In the land of bent bones
Simple is killing me
There's a craving in my soul
With thirsty dry dreams
Longing to lap it up
I don't know what awaits me
All I know is I've got to go
I've spent years in this resistance
Hiding far from your rejection
Dodging claims and criticism
I have tried and I have failed
Still the voice inside reminding
There is more that is in store
Art is quenching, I am drinking
Lips are thirsty for some more
Nectar for dry dreams
Healing for bent bones
Simple is not me
There is music in my soul
With thirsty dry dreams
Longing to lap it up
I don't know what awaits me
All I know is I've got to go

When Sunshine Meets Moonlight

When sunshine meets moonlight
The sparks fly in moments
They hang while in the distance
But then they separate...
Like sleep and play
The yin and yang

He won't fall from the stars
She won't fan out the flame
He's got demons to chase
She cant give up her faith

When sunshine meets moonlight
The Sparks fly in moments
They hang while in the distance
But then they separate
Like sleep and play
The yin and yang

She knows life needs night
Darkness craves the rays
Can they love while apart
Shining in different ways?

Sunshine meets moonlight
And sparks fly in moments
They hang while in the distance
And never need to separate
Like sleep and play
The yin and yang

Move the heart beat of the ocean tide
As a Grandpa holds a baby child
In forgiveness as the souls align
One love holds each in place

The sunshine is the moonlight
And sparks fly for a life time
They both shine in the new sky
And never need to separate
In sleep and play
The yin and yang
Are one today
And vow to stay
Through the night
There is light
Through the day
Dreams will play
